What's legal
Indiana legalized sports betting through House Enrolled Act 1015 in 2019. Retail betting opened in September 2019 and mobile betting on October 3, 2019. Casinos, racinos and off-track sites hold the licenses and attach online brands to them.
The Indiana Gaming Commission's September 2026 revenue report shows handle for 11 online sportsbooks: Bally Bet, bet365, BetMGM, BetRivers, Caesars, DraftKings, Fanatics, FanDuel, Hard Rock Bet, SBK and theScore Bet. The Commission's contact list for sportsbooks, updated in July 2026, names the same 11 mobile brands plus the retail books.
You must be 21 and in Indiana. Operators pay a 9.5% tax on adjusted revenue from sports wagering.
Crypto and offshore sites
The Commission's sportsbook list names the only operators that can take sports bets in Indiana. A crypto sportsbook that is not on it holds no Indiana license, and you would have no state regulator to complain to if a withdrawal stalled.
In May 2026 Commission officials told the Indiana Capital Chronicle that Indiana does not regulate prediction markets, which sit under federal oversight by the CFTC. Indiana has acted against online sweepstakes games through legislation instead.
Before you deposit anywhere in Indiana, check the operator against the Commission's licensing pages. Brands come and go, so an older review may list apps that have since closed.
What's changing
Gov. Mike Braun signed House Bill 1052 on March 12, 2026, now Public Law 153. It defines a sweepstakes game and lets the Gaming Commission levy a civil penalty of $100,000 on an operator or individual who knowingly runs one online in Indiana. The sweepstakes provisions took effect on July 1, 2026. It also brings sportsbooks into the voluntary self-exclusion program, so a person who signs up is barred there too.
Tax
Indiana's 2026 individual income tax rate is 2.95%, falling to 2.90% in 2027. Counties add their own income tax on top, and federal tax applies too.
